Day 1: Sunday - DUBROVNIK

The first port of call is Gruz harbour, which is pronounced gruush. Check-in starts from 10.00am and cabins will be ready approximately 13.00. As the first overnight stay is in Dubrovnik you can have the rest of the afternoon to explore this ancient walled city. With the stunning backdrop of the glistening Adriatic and red tile roofs of the city, you will surely admire the fine renaissance architecture.

Day 2: Monday - DUBROVNIK – MLJET

After a hearty breakfast we set sail to the unspoiled island of Mljet. Lunch will be on board and the rest of the afternoon is free to discover the beauty of the many villages, secluded bays and the large salt water lakes. A great way to get round this designated national park is by mountain bike. The island is relatively flat and hill climbs are shortly lived. As part of your sail Croatia adventures we can organise a further small boat hire to explore the lakes, but this is an additional fee. Mljet is very peaceful and a perfect introduction to the beauty of the Dalmatia region. Overnight will be in Port Ploaca/Pomena.

Day 3: Tuesday - MLJET – KORČULA

Today we set sail for the island of Korcula, with swim stops along the way. We port at Lumbarda, an extended part of Korcula, where lunch will be served. The afternoon can then be used to explore the island which is rich in art and culture. It is the alleged birthplace of the 13th century explorer Marco Polo and also home to the traditional folk sword dance the ‘moeska’. There are many monuments, sights and mystical legends to be found. Seek out the 20,000 year old caves of Vela Luka.

Day 4: Wednesday - KORČULA – HVAR

An early morning departure takes us to the small island of Scedro where you can soak up the sun and swim in the clear waters of the Adriatic. Lunch is provided before we continue our journey to the island of Hvar. Known locally as the ‘sunshine island’ it’s the longest in the Adriatic and you will appreciate the beauty of the pine covered hillsides and stretches of lavender fields. Sights include a renaissance cathedral with its original tower and the oldest community theatre founded in 1612. There are also ample restaurants, bars and cafes where you can taste the local cuisine. For the young or fun minded, you’ll be pleased to know Hvar is one of the coolest places to party. Try Carpe diem, Veneranda, Hula-hula beach bar, and the many high-end Lounge/champagne bars. It offers a very refreshing night scene, something that a sailing cruise in Croatia is legendary for.

Day 5: Thursday - HVAR- TRSTENIK

After leaving Hvar we head to the village harbour of Trstenik. This lovely port is situated by a crystal clear bay under the stunning Pelijesac hills. Lunch is on board and then you can take a swim whilst admiring the majestic pine groves of the mountains in the distance. With a population of only 106, the main jobs on the island are fishing, farming and wine making. Why not take a short walk to the Grgic winery where you can sample the local Dingac wine.

Day 6: Friday - TRSTENIK – ŠIPAN

As your cruising Dalmatian coast, Croatia really does expose its inner beauty. Today, we travel away from the larger more populated areas to the ElafitiIslands. This is a group of islands west of Dubrovnik includes Sipan, Lopud and Kolocep. Lunch is served at the largest island, Sipan, where you can then sunbath on its sandy beaches and swim in its clear Adriatic waters. Its landscape is covered in olive trees, grapes, oranges and figs. We will then set anchor here and stay overnight.

Day 7: Saturday - ŠIPAN – DUBROVNIK

On our last day aboard these vintage sail boats in Croatia, we make an early start and head back towards Dubrovnik. Enjoy the stunning coastline en route, which has been described by the famous writer George Bernard Shaw as ‘heaven on earth’. Lunch is served and then around 2pm we arrive back in Dubrovnik where you can visit any sights you missed on your first day here. Note, that there are optional excursions to Montenegro available, just ask your Sailing Croatia travel manager. If you prefer to explore the town on your own be sure not to miss a walk down ‘Stradun’, the main shopping street of the town. For the more energetic of you, there is a 1940m walk which can be taken along ancient city walls. It is then back on board where we stay in Gruz port.

Day 8: Sunday - DUBROVNIK

After an early breakfast it is time to say goodbye to the crew and friends you have made on this magical sailing holiday cruise adventure. We hope you will go home with some amazing memories and will share some of them, on our inspire me pages [see the inspire me button on this website].

  • Boats and cabins

Q: Tell me more about the boat categories & cabins
    A: No problem, read below:

B-category boats, are 2 bed cabins, which are usually bunk beds. B-category boats are favoured amongst the young-minded travellers [ages from 18-35]. B-category boats have shared bathrooms and toilets.

A-category boats, are 2 bed cabins, which are usually bunk beds [some twins & doubles on request only!]. A-category boats are favoured amongst the young-minded, working professional traveller [ages from 25-44]. These cabins offer en-suite private bathrooms and wc/showers.

A+ plus-category boats, are 2 bed cabins, which are usually twins & doubles. A+ plus-category boats offer en-suite private bathrooms and wc/showers, larger space, air-con, daily changing/cleaning, sun-beds on deck, and additional extras.

Premier plus-category boats, have everything of the A+ standard, but offer even more facilities like hot tubs on deck, and boutique bedrooms [perfect for romantic stays or high-end luxury].

Q: What is the difference between ‘above’ and ‘below’ deck cabins?
A: Above deck is situated on the main deck of the boat. Below deck cabins are found in the hull of the boat.

A benefit with the cheaper below deck is often they are much cooler as they don’t heat up as much during the day. The benefit with the above deck is they are on the top of the deck with most above deck cabins opening out to the ocean. There are pro’s and con’s to both – the below deck cabins are often quieter at night as you do not have other travellers walking past your cabin as much as the above deck cabins. Above deck cabins offer more natural light and ventilation. Each boat is unique and therefore the cabin layout does vary from boat to boat. Please note: On some of the boats the above deck cabins are located on 2 levels, i.e. on deck and upper deck.

     Q: Who owns the boats?
A: The boats we operate with are owned  and run privately. Our local operations team in Croatia ensures all boats and crew operate to a high standard. In the rare occurance that there is a small problem, our local staff will react to your request immediately.

Q: How many people per boat?
    A:
This depends on the size of the sail boat, but the average boat size is around 25 people. Ensuite boats accommodate on average 30 people, with the Premier ships taking an average of 38 people.
